The Christie Antique Show [Part 1]

This past Saturday I woke up bright and early and went to the Christie Antique show with my Parents. It was a great day with some wonderful antique vendors. The crowds were thin in the morning until around 11am and then seemed to get busy. There seemed to be less vendors than in the past but there was still plenty of quality finds.
This is a Airplane stand which was used back in the 50's for placing your drink and ashtray on. My mother has always talked about them since her grandfather had one when she was a child. This is the first stand I have seen with an actual airplane on top of it. It was quite beautiful to see in person. This stand and the next desk was at booth V12 which is Richard Huxtable ANTIQUES 217 Ottawa St. Almonte, ON KOA 1A0. Their e-mail is rickhuxant@hotmail.com and the phone number is 613-256-3163.
This is the desk also from Richard Huxtable ANTIQUES. I loved the legs on this desk and all the ornate carvings!

These nesting tables are so cute! They are perfect for an outside patio or inside. They were painted a gorgeous robins egg blue colour and distressed just enough! The glass top had a hobnail pattern on the underside which made the glass look like it had rain drops on it. These table were at booth U9 OF Other Times and you can contact them @ maureenmckellar@msn.com .

This ginger ale clock immediately caught my eye! I love the colours in it. It makes me feel like I'm on vacation! I also love the water spritzer to the right I have always wanted a blue glass water spritzer(but they are out of my price range). These items are from booth Q7 which is Bedard Antiques. You can contact Patty and Paul @ 905-732-4448 or @ mecmusic@sympatico.ca. They buy and sell antiques too!

Those were some finds I loved and wanted to share!

The Christie Antique Show is HERE!!!!
It is the best (in my opinion) Antique show in Ontario. Check out the info!
I have been there two times, last fall and this past spring.
I have found amazing and unique items and highly recommend everyone and anyone to check this event out! It is perfect for people that are new to antiques or wonderful for the experts!
The weather looks perfect and hopefully won't be as muddy as it was this spring.
I suggest that you rise and shine and plan on being at the show early! It takes a couple of hours (atleast!) to get through this busy show. Take your time and enjoy browsing!
Hope to see you all there!

My New Buffet

I had been looking everywhere for a buffet that would be perfect when painted and distressed. I finally found one at aberfoyle antique market. This is what I started out with.
I decided to paint the buffet:

I painted two coats with my new paint spraying gun. I fell in love with this gun as it makes painting things so much faster! However I left my painted buffet to dry outside overnight and when I woke up early it was covered in dew! I had a minor panic attack and hoped the sun would help to dry the buffet quickly. A couple of hours later and I found that the dew had made streaks in the finish.
After I looked at the "dew disaster" I realized I liked the effect it had made. Since I was planning on distressing the buffet anyways the extra imperfections the dew had made worked. I would have painted another coat of paint if I had wanted a perfect finish.
Next I sanded using a 120 grit sandpaper on some of the detailed areas and where it would naturally have some wear.
I took out the wooden knobs and replaced them with anthropologie mother of pearl knobs. I love these because they match the feel of the antique drawer pulls the bottom drawer had.

Here is the final look!
So what do you think?

First Post: breaking the ice

Hi Friends!
This is my first blog post and to be honest I'm quite excited about it. I have been busy with little projects, crafts, and antiquing. I am excited to start sharing with my new friends.
I will share one preview with the group. My teal buffet. I found a willow dresser last year at the christie Antique show that was distressed and gorgeous. I bought it for my living room to put my oversized hand me down t.v on. Well since then I have been looking for a buffet that I could paint to match. I wanted one with lots of carving and details to it. I was extremely excited when I found this one at aberfoyle antique market in the spring. It's just perfect!
Later on I will show you the steps I took to get the buffet looking like this!
P.S. Can you guess what my favourite colour is?
